Breastfeeding Bootcamp: How to Supplement for More Milk

There are tons of different supplements out there for boating milk supply, but it can be hard to narrow down which ones you need and how to use them. Here’s an example of what supplements I take and how I incorporate them into my day.

Goats Rue

I take the 10ml doses of Goats Rue a day. One in my coffee in the morning, one in my Gatorade at lunch, and one in my nightly tea.

Diluting it in my drinks makes the flavor more bearable. I think Goats Rue is probably the most effective supplement I take- so it you have to choose, choose the Rue!

Mother’s Milk Tea

I drink two cups daily, one in the morning and one at night. This tea has almost become a comfort food for me. It has tons of herbs that help boost lactation and personally it acts as a stress reliever and we all know how stress can wreck your supply!

Rainbow Light Prenatal One

I take RainbowLight Prenatal One to keep up with all the nutrients my body needs, not just for me but for my little man, too!

I usually take this at night just cause I remember it better.

The Honest Company Postnatal Lactation Plus

I love this stuff! Two pills in the evening and I can tell a huge increase in my supply. It has fenugreek, Milk Thistle, Marshmallow, and a whole bunch more goodness packed into each capsule.

When I get off of these supplements I notice an immediate dip in my supply. I try to stay on them all the time, even when I’m not pumping, because it takes a lot longer to see the effects of taking them then it does to see what happens when you stop. Whenever you start a supplement give it about two weeks to work before you give up on it. Your supply takes time to adjust to what your I taking- so give it the time it needs to adjust!

Do you have any favorite supplements to boost lactation?
